Car Battery Serial Number

How do we read the date code on your batteries? PS, PSH, PSG and PG Series Product Date Codes The first five numeric characters represent the month, day and year of manufacture (MM/DD/Y). The first two numbers identify the month, from 01 to 12. For example, March is 03 and November is 11. In the picture here, a battery with “C8” on the negative terminal means the battery was shipped from the factory around March 2018. One thing that can get confusing is that the “8” in this example could also possibly indicate a battery from 2008. So you do have to make a judgement call on whether the battery is over 10 years old or newer.

Car Battery Serial Number Check

Purchased a new Varta battery for my 2016 VW Tiguan 4WD 2.0L diesel. It is not from a dealer- but a genuine Varta item.
My dilemma is this: The battery is stated as being BEM compatible but the numbers on the battery stickers do not seem to have the same format at the OEM BEM sticker.
I need to code the new battery in VCDS and I'm not exactly sure which numbers to use. The only two numbers I have on the new battery are a serial number: 016987 144503 and a 'Varta Code' on a QR sticker, which is A 26 E39 902 8OC.
Can anyone offer some guidance?
